Backyard cricket, refreshing pool dips, sizzling barbecues and baking summer heat – quintessential Southern Hemisphere Summer. This triad year the definition crystallised in my mind as I lay by the pool watching my 5 children play whilst awaiting the birth of my 6th. The whack of the cricket ball, the thud of the bat and my boys excited voices as they played, while the cobalt sky lazily trailed vapour from the Perth – Melbourne planes. This is my Australia.
