Original work, studio quality reproduction and prints available.
Duncan Graham, playwright.
We are all born an empty canvas. Slowly, awkwardly, we sketch our imperfect selves into life, into focus.
Given with the gift of a ‘third eye’ – some can see more than others.
Another gift ‘schadenfreude’ – the taking of pleasure from the suffering of others – is very different for artists.
The artist delights in his or her own suffering, because they understand that only through this suffering can truth be seen and its beauty released. This is the noblest of pursuits.
That is why, for the artist, in the names of truth and beauty, it is his or her solemn duty to kill him or herself every day… for Art.
“Schadenfreude” is Part 1 of the triptych, ‘We Kill Ourselves for Art Everyday’.
