Nick Cave is an influential force. His eloquence, passion, irreverence, importance and imperfection have impressed upon me since my teenage years. Profound lyrics such as “my typewriter was as mute as a tomb/and my piano crouched in the corner of my room/with all its teeth bared” exemplify the imagery that Nick can can conjur with words alone.
Nick gave me so much when I needed a lot. I perceive the world could not give the peace he needed assuage his pain and suffering. Nick is, without a doubt, the greatest Australian poet there has been.
